One beautiful, sunny January morning a client and I drove to Leeds to visit three short listed venues for a conference for 150 delegates. Three fabulous venues were short listed and our road trip provided us the opportunity to check out these very individual venues to gauge suitability and it’s our pleasure to share them with you:
Built in 2005, as part of the redevelopment of the Grade II listed Electric Press printing works, The Carriageworks provides a stunning backdrop with a sympathetic meeting of old and new architecture. Located on the first floor, this modern venue overlooks an historic glass-roofed and heated courtyard which in early Victorian times was home to the West Riding Carriage Manufactory, from which it takes its name.
With its large auditorium and six meeting rooms, the Carriageworks offers an inspiring venue for a wide range of events including conferences, presentations and training events with high quality facilities and spectacular scenic views of Millennium square and Mandela Gardens.
In 2014 NHS Confederation were having real problems finding conference and meeting space in the North that offered natural daylight, great coffee, light and modern facilities with up to date equipment. So when the 3rd floor of our Brewery Wharf building became available it was snapped up to provide excellent meeting and training facilities for the NHS and commercially for clients.
Five years on they have won numerous awards for service in the dedicated space including 6 meeting rooms with a maximum capacity of 250 delegates.
Set in a stunning £350 million waterfront development, Leeds Dock is home to NEW DOCK Hall and the Royal Armouries which are adjacent to each other. On site there is a multi-storey car park for 1,650 vehicles and 850 Hotel bedrooms within 5 minutes walk. 12 flexible spaces for up to 1500 delegates with easy access by water bus from the train station.
